Physiotherapy

Acute onsets of low back pain are common, and respond well to early intervention. Physiotherapy is an effective, non-invasive way to manage back pain and is recommended as the first line of treatment.
Chronic back pain is pain that has been present for longer than 3 months. These presentations usually take a little longer to resolve/ manage and involve a more holistic approach using a biopsychosocial approach to management.

Neck and shoulder pain can be irritating, and lead to headaches and difficulty concentrating.
Treatment often includes hands-on therapy such as massage, joint mobilisation and dry needling. Management will always include looking at underlying movement patterns, strength and endurance and creating a tailored exercise program to suit.

Did you know sometimes chronic hip pain can be caused by your pelvic floor muscles? As we are both musculoskeletal physio’s and pelvic health physio’s we have a thorough, in depth understanding of the whole lumbopelvic and hip complex meaning we can sometimes find links that have been missed prior.

Pain in the wrist and base of the thumb is common in new Mum’s, and can be well managed with physiotherapy. A large part of management is looking at the way you’re completing common tasks to try and modify these to offload the affected area. We will also work on strengthening the surrounding muscles and giving you pain relief strategies. Sometimes we look at splinting/ bracing.
